ABOUT JAMIE

Jamie Hogan Advocate and Lobbyisxt (Group) was founded in 2022 by Cameron Hogan, commonly known as Jamie. As a young manhe  originally studied joint technical qual in 20ifications in Surveying and Civil Engineering while working for the Victorian Sstate Government. He subsequently changed career paths to study Youth Work qualifying in 1985. He went on to study a number of related qualifications whilst working with young people and in 1987 was  elected as  local government Councilor. 

He holds qualifications in Contract Law, Criminal Justice, Management, Youth Work, Counselling, Quality Auditing. Training and Assessment and Alcohol and Other Drugs including a Doctorate in Philosophy, a Doctorate in Law and in 2025 completed training as a Certified Advocate. 

Jamie is a  member of the Governance Institute of Australia, Youth Workers Australia, the Australian and New Zealand Criminology Society, Institute of Community Directors of Australia, Fellow of  the Advocacy Institute of Australia in addition to holding Fellowships of the  Institute of Management and Leadership completing the the Victorian Community Leadership Fellowhaip in 2012 and a Life Fellow of the Association of Honorary Independent Persons 

 In recent times, Jamie has focused on his work as a  bord membe, lobbyist,  advocate and quality auditor providing services to many community groups and pro-bono work for people with mental health issues and young people

He served on the Ministerial Central Gippsland Regional Youth Committee as Deputy Chair, the Ministerial Consumer Affairs Advisory Committee, the Victorian Association of Youth Clubs Board of Directors  and the boards of a number of corporate entities, including  the Tony White Group of companies.

He lectured in various Community Services courses specializing in Legal and Ethical Practice for many years before leaving the academic world in early 2021 to pursue his Counselling, consulting and lobbying  career and businesses.

NEW PARTNERS, A NEW NAME, NEW PROGRAMS

 In midd 2025  Todd Price who is our Art theapistand trained artist by Swinburn University and Melbourne Politechnics and Jamie who is a trained counsellor amoungst other disaplines have undertaken Sex Therapy Certifications which they will complete in November 2025. 

This leads Jamie and Todd to open the Gippsdland  Wellness Centre as a program of our business. This will focus on group therapies specialize on men and particularly  LGBTQIA+ men with a particular  focus on Mens Sexual Helth, AOD Counselling for Men and Young Men, and Art therapy all through group sessions conducted by them. The Wellness Centre will commence providing services in early 2026

ABOUT OUR BUSINESS IN 2025

Since the bgininges of the advocacy and lobbyimg business we have taken on and founded many ongoing projects and programes hence become one of the premier advocacy and lobbying agencies  helping many individuals , a number of major ongoing corporate clievnts and community based clients which we have completed or are doing major work for.  

We no longer undertakev NDIS work and given that we reduced our staffing and decided to work from home bases in late 2024. The Business is now called the "PHOENIX CONSULTANCY"

 Our team is significantly experienced Partners and Consultants and more than capable of undertaking the tasks at  hand. All our team are members of the Advocacy Institute of Australia.

We specialise in helping community organizations in their quests whatever they may be including, business planning, governance, moderation, procedure, strategic planning, sucessionplaning, makteting planning, programe development, reporting, ACNC applications and a host of other services as required. 

However, these days Jamie is the Managing Director in semi retirement manages the business  part time. He volunteers his time as an advocate for people with mental health issues, assists community groups with policy, moderation and governance and younger people as a para-legal .Being active in the political world as a campaign manager, a political Chief of Staff and local party member for over 40 years, Jamie also undertakes political commentating through the media.

in addition, Jamie represents the business and himself on numerous regional, state and national boards including the National Board Member and Treasurer of Youth Workers Australia [YWA], the peek professional body for Youth Workers, as the Secretarfy and Board Member of the Derek Amos Institute of Public and Political Affairs and as Chair and Board Member of the Advocacy Institute of Australia the national association for Advocates.
